How we work

  1. Free site visit

    We walk the floor plan with you, count outlets, check ceiling and riser access, and work out where the rack should live and what power and cooling it needs. Free within 100 km of Caringbah.

  2. Design & itemised quote

    You get a cabling schedule and an itemised ex-GST quote — outlets, cable grade, rack hardware, switching and patching listed line by line, so adding or trimming outlets is a visible line item, not a mystery variation.

  3. Installation

    Cable pulled on proper paths clear of power and interference, terminated and dressed at both ends, the rack built and patched, and any new power circuits for the rack run under our electrical licence.

  4. Certification & handover

    Every link is tested and the cable certification results handed over with your documentation — labelled outlets, patch schedule and switch configuration — so the installation is proven, not presumed. Failed links get fixed before we leave, not logged for later.

  5. Optional maintenance

    As you add desks, cameras or access points we extend the same scheme — and periodic rack tidy-ups, firmware updates and PoE-budget checks keep the network performing the way it did at handover.

Compliance & licensing

Data cabling in Australia is regulated work — ACMA cabling registration requirements apply to fixed cabling that connects to the telecommunications network, and we carry out cabling work in line with those requirements. Where a job includes licensed electrical work — new circuits for a comms rack, dedicated power for network equipment, relocating outlets — it's done under NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 35018C, designed with reference to the AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules, and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) is issued.

Bioni also holds NSW Security Master Licence 000108088, which matters more than it sounds on a data job: camera, access-control and intercom cabling is security work as well as cabling work, and running it all under one licensed contractor keeps accountability in one place. Test results, labelling and documentation are part of the handover on every job — certification is what makes a cabling warranty worth something.

A recent job

An office fit-out in Hurstville

An accounting practice moving into a Hurstville office suite inherited a mess: a handful of aged outlets of unknown grade, an unlabelled patch panel in a cupboard, and a fit-out deadline four weeks out. They needed forty-odd outlets across desks and meeting rooms, Wi-Fi covering the whole floor, and cameras and door access done in the same window.

We ran new Cat6A to every desk and ceiling point, built a wall-mount rack with a managed PoE switch, and put the cameras, door controller and access points on their own VLANs, separated from the practice network. Every link was certified and the results handed over with a labelled patch schedule. The fit-out opened on time — and when their IT provider remoted in to stand up the servers, the documentation answered most of their questions before they rang us.

What moves the price

Structured cabling is quoted itemised ex-GST, per outlet and per item of rack hardware. What moves the number:

  • Outlet count — the biggest single driver; each outlet is its own line on the quote
  • Cable grade — Cat6 covers most offices; Cat6A costs more per metre and per termination but carries 10 Gb and higher PoE loads
  • Rack work — a wall-mount cabinet with one switch versus a floor rack with structured patching and UPS power
  • Ceiling and riser access — clean accessible ceiling space pulls fast; solid ceilings, occupied floors and tight risers slow every run
  • Switching and Wi-Fi — managed PoE switching, access-point count and any outdoor point-to-point links
  • After-hours windows — occupied offices often need pulls done outside business hours

Cabling is cheapest while walls and ceilings are open — if you're fitting out, get us in before the plasterboard goes on.

Do you certify the cabling?
Yes — structured cabling is tested and certified, with results documented for your records and warranty.
Can you segment cameras from the office network?
We design VLANs and switching so surveillance, access control and corporate traffic are properly separated for security and performance.
Should I run Cat6 or Cat6A?
Cat6 handles gigabit and most PoE comfortably and suits the majority of offices. Cat6A is worth the premium for 10 Gb backbones, high-power PoE and Wi-Fi points you'll upgrade over the cable's life — we'll often quote a sensible mix rather than one grade everywhere.
What drives the cost of a cabling job?
Outlet count first, then cable grade, rack hardware and how hard the ceilings are to work in. Because the quote is itemised ex-GST per outlet, scaling the job up or down stays transparent.
How long does a cabling fit-out take?
A small office of 20–40 outlets typically takes two to four days including rack work and certification. Larger fit-outs are staged around the builder's program — we'd rather cable before the ceilings close than fight them afterwards.
Can our IT person run the cabling instead?
Fixed cabling that connects to the telecommunications network is regulated work under ACMA cabling rules — it isn't a DIY or IT-support task, and uncertified runs routinely fail when pushed to gigabit or PoE. Patch leads and plug-in gear are fine to self-manage.
Can the same cabling carry cameras and access control?
Yes — that's the point of structured cabling. Surveillance, access and corporate traffic ride separate VLANs over the one physical plant, with the PoE budget sized so cameras and access points never brown out the switch.
